Dr. Pamela Higgins Saulsberry
Dr. Pamela Higgins Saulsberry was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She received her BA in Social Work from Colorado State University; her MSW from the University of Denver, and her PhD. from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS. She is a License Clinical Social Worker- Board Approved Clinical Supervisor and a certified School Social Worker and Nurturing Parent and Black Effective Parent trainer and a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW).
Dr. Higgins Saulsberry was the inaugural Executive Director of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and formally the Director of the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Louisiana @ Monroe. She also recently served as the Program Coordinator and is Professor Emerita of Social Work.
Because of her interest in children and families, she has served or is serving in the following areas: as a Child Welfare Consultant for Office of Youth Development and Workforce Investment Board. She has severed as a Consultant/Trainer for Monroe City School Safe Schools, /Healthy Schools Program. She is the founder of Reach Adolescent Potential (RAP!).
Dr. Saulsberry is a state and national presenter and trainer addressing such topics as Diversity/Social Distance/Inclusion/Equity; Relationship Violence; Disproportionality and Grandparents raising grandchildren, Parenting Skill Development, which reflect her research interest.
Of the numerous awards Dr. Higgins Saulsberry has received, being named Louisiana’s 2021 Social Worker of the Year was one of her proudest professional accomplishments. Last and most importantly, she is the mother of two and the grandmother of four.
